How does limestone change from stone to the calcium carbonate we use? What is his production process? Today, a customer asked about the limestone production process. Today, Zhuoya Mining Machinery will take you through the process of grinding limestone into calcium carbonate.
The entire process includes stone mining, selection, calcination, crushing, grinding, digestion, precipitation and other steps. Let’s take a look at it below.
1. Limestone Mining
Limestone is mined from the ore, and large pieces of limestone are crushed and transported to calcium carbonate manufacturers for stacking.
2. Limestone selection
The production of precipitated calcium carbonate requires limestone with high content, few impurities and high purity. After various processes such as color sorting, high-quality raw materials can be obtained.
3. Calcination of limestone
Large pieces of limestone are heated and calcined in a lime kiln to obtain quicklime.
4. Quicklime crushing and grinding
The quicklime blocks are ground into powder by the crusher and quicklime mill, usually into fine powder of 200 mesh and 325 mesh, which is digested with water to produce slaked lime (slaked lime). The quicklime grinder requires sealing.
5. Digestion of quicklime
Quicklime is digested with water (ash converter) to obtain slaked lime (calcium hydroxide). After digestion with water, lime milk is produced, and then carbon dioxide is added to carbonize the lime milk to produce calcium carbonate precipitation.
6. Modification of precipitated calcium carbonate
Modification of precipitated calcium carbonate, that is, drying the precipitated calcium carbonate, grinding it through a calcium carbonate mill, and then passing it through a modification machine to add a modifier for surface modification. The process flow of dry surface coating modification of coupling agents is currently widely used.
